Future Students
Welcome Future Students,
Congratulations on taking the first step towards a rewarding and impactful journey in Human Resource Development! At The University of the West Indies (The UWI), we are thrilled to welcome you to our HRD Programmes Unit, a part of the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work. Here you will gain the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to become leaders in the fields of human resources management and development, employee and labour relations and organisational behaviour.
The PhD programme in Organisational Behaviour is designed to develop scientists and practitioners for an academic or a professional career in organisational analysis and intervention, whether in consultancy, within industry or in the public sector. This doctoral programme provides not only an excellent theoretical foundation for organisational research, but also, through its internship requirements, the technical skills needed to understand and contend with the complex issues which arise from social interaction within organisations.
Our MSc HRD programme is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices that drive strategic human resource development. Throughout your studies, you will engage in a variety of learning experiences that will prepare you to tackle real-world HR challenges and contribute to the success of any organisation.
The Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Human Resource Development (Diploma HRD) offers continuing education credits to persons who already possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in any field other than HR. The students for this programme are persons who do not have the requisite academic training for their work in an administrative capacity with the human capital of the organisation. The second group of students who are attracted to this programme are persons who take it for continuing education credits as prescribed by their recognised professional body.
